Perilous tales a 1st play

Well the the game left a smile on my face I was caught in the  pulpy nonsense Narrative a rag tag group and the highly probably b horror movie death,  plot.  A professors equipment has been going missing its tracked to the caves under the University, the Prof and 2 students go to take a look but a fbi investigator joins them due to strange bloodless deaths..perhaps its linked  the shifty finacer  of the uni doesn't like bad press and will shut the project unless the equipment is found unfortunately strange chatting forces him along with the rag tag party in to the caves to escape!

Dun dun durrrh.

Plays fast when not narrating to video..  and flipping through the book only the villains phase realy need a cheat sheet print out and the scenario specific monsters.. and ai.  But it's fairly simple to get after a few rounds 2 games I'm sure you won't need the rule.

Now every body can shoot.. at 1st this threw me as I'm made a not typically shooty party but I also had  a very terrain intense board.  .. I've done the the vamp scenario twice with different results .. the horror checks really kept me back this game.. I was surprised and need to check the rules on hair trigger.  Is it auto active?

Worth exploring the other monsters...

I feel its a contest of who does it better the doomed or perilous tales.

Pros  villian phase threat tracker seems good, and hidden tokens for villains give suspense but only skill interacts. You can  not shoot a unknown marker in Los.
Small space small model count
Variety of villains and locations

Cons.
Didn't like repeating horror checks each turn 1 step forward 1 step back. Poor rolls. maybe instead give next turn disadvage and add any one can encourage the party role? To cancel the effect ? Maybe that's easy mode.. ..
1 hero,  lackys not very different maybe perception
Turn over on reveal makes some gamey turns. E.g move every one before moving towards a token.
No campaign
Variety of locations howdoes a submarine fit in a 2x2 format. I played tight caves technical 4 acces points but with things covering on the middle..

Maybe it needs more a table like token 1 need to travel to x section on board unless interrupted.  Nagh sounds odd and difficult.
